The sweetest thing-

These e-mails always find me when I’m tired to my toes.  My heart is huge for this kid. Always has been, if you want to know the truth.

Dear Ms. Solesbee,

Last year I was a student in your ELA class, and I was a slacker. I came into your class as one kind of student and came out a whole different student. You put a vision into my head that I really needed to survive. I see why you always got upset about assignments not being turned in and fussed at us because of it. At first, I thought it was just another teacher getting upset over nothing, but as the year went on I understood. At the end of eighth grade year, I made a promise to myself that I was going to try my hardest in high school and become the best student I could. For you, but also for myself. There is only one thing I can say to you, and that is, thank you. I thank you for being one of the few that actually cared about my grade. Thank you so much. If I were able to redo that last assignment in your class I know what I would put as my 6 word memoir. ”Never give up hope in you.” You showed me that no matter what everyone else thinks and says, if you have hope in yourself you can achieve anything.

Sincerely,

J.U.
